Acrux 600: URL Filter

This article applies for Acrux 600 Router.

OTE: Your N Router is compatible with any Operating System for setup, it only requires a internet browser (IE, Mozilla, Firefox , Chrome, Safari, etc).

 
Here are the steps to enable the URL Filter option on the Acrux600 router:

1. Connect your Nexxt router to your PC with an Ethernet cable on the LAN port. Keep the modem DSL connected to the WAN port on your Acrux600 router.

 
2. Verify that your PC has created the Local Area network on Network Connections.

3. Verify that the Firewall and Antivirus system are disabled to avoid any problems or restrictions.
 
4. Once all connected,  open your browser (IE,Mozilla,Firefox,etc) and enter the IP address of the router "192.168.0.1" by default. This will prompt you to type some credentials to access the router webpage.
 
 
5. Use "admin" as user and password. 

6. Go to "Advanced" at the top right of your setup page.




7. To enable the URL Filtering, first we must create an User Group and a Time Group.


User Group settings

For example, if you want to add a user group for "NexxtBlock" department within an IP of 192.168.5.2 - 192.168.5.10, you must need to setup an User Group inside the "User Group" tab.

1.  Go to "Security" and then go to the "Group" tab.
 
2.  Inside the Group Tab, go to the "User Group" tab.
 
3.  Press the "Add" button on the "User Group" window.


 
4.  Type your Group name on "IPv4 Group Name".

5.  Type the Group Description on "IPv4 Group Description". 

6.  Place the IP address range 192.168.0.100 and 192.168.0.200 in the blank field on add IP.
 
7.  Click "Add" to add those IP address to the group.


8. After press the "Add" button, you will see on the "IPv4" field the requested IP's. Click "Save" to apply changes. 


If you see following page it means you have created a user group successfully.



Time Group Settings

For example if you want to set a period of time like 8:00-18:00 on working days from Monday to Friday to a time group, please go to the "Time Group" Tab. 

1.  Go to "Security" and then go to the "Group" tab.

 
2.  Inside the Group Tab, go to the "Time Group" tab.

3. Press the "Add" button on the "Time Group" window.


 
4.  Type the selected group name on "Group Name" (before you must create the user group).
 
5.  Type the group description on "Group Description".
 
6.  Select the time and days to apply the policy.
 
7.  Click  "Save" to apply changes. 


 
If you see following page it means you have created a user group successfully.



URL filter:

Now with this 2 fields created, now we can create a URL Filter policy.

For example, you want to block the computers whose P Address is 192.168.5.2 - 192.168.5.10 to access the websites that include “yahoo” from 8:00 am to 18:00 pm in working time. And the computers with other IP Address can access the website as well. If yes, after created the User Group ans Time Group with this criteria, we can create the Filter.

1.  Go to "Security"

2.  Go to the "URL Filter" tab.

3. Place a checkmark on the "Enable" space on "URL Filter".

4. Press the "Add" button to add the new policy.


5.  Inside the URL Filter page, select the Filter mode between "Allow" or "Deny".
 
6.  Click on "Enable" to activate the policy.
 
7.  On "Description", type the description of the policy.
 
8.  On "IP Group", choose the User Group that you want to apply the policy.
 
9.  On "Time Group", choose the option that you want to apply the policy.
 
10.  On "URL String" type the websites string that you want to allow (or deny). For example, if you type "Yahoo", all websites that includes Yahoo cannot be allowed to enter.
 
11.  Click on "Save" to apply changes. 


 
If you see following page it means you have created a user group successfully.
 

With this example, the computers whose IP Address is 192.168.5.2 - 192.168.5.10 can’t access the websites that include “yahoo” from 8:00 am to 18:00 pm in working time.
